Yates is positioned for a cautious recovery, for which stance shareholders have rewarded him with their faith: shares have risen by a third since February when Henderson reported a doubling of profits last year to £132m. Yates is planning to increase his emerging markets, property and hedge fund capabilities, possibly by buying specialist providers.
