Paradise took up the role in 2004, moving over from Goldman’s global securities services business in Asia, and became a partner later that year. The bank has a strong position with event-driven and risk arbitrage hedge funds, which like the access they get to private deal flow from the investment bank. The figures speak for themselves – prime brokerage generated record revenues for Goldman last year of $2.72bn, up 25% on 2006.
