Hohn donated £230m to his wife’s charity The Children’s Investment Fund Foundation last June, 0.5% of TCI’s assets under management, and this year’s contribution is likely to match. TCI generated returns of 40% last year thanks to the sale of ABN Amro which Hohn kickstarted. TCI has been busy pushing for change at Japanese nuclear energy company J-Power and has also taken positions in US futures exchanges CME Group and the New York Mercantile Exchange.
